I. Order
The Court is charged with responsibility of maintaining proper order and decorum. Accordingly, the Court shall require all litigants, jurors, witnesses, attorneys, and others with whom the judge deals in an official capacity, to conduct and dress themselves in a manner deemed fitting and respectable
II. Attire
All attire shall be appropriate to show respect to the Court. Clothing that would be considered unacceptable includes, but is not limited to:
a. Shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits.
b. Blouses or tops that are low-cut, halter, see-through, or bare midriff.
c. Muscle shirts, undershirts, clothing with lewd, sexual, offensive, vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene, or sexually suggestive words, slogans, depictions, or pictures, including grotesque creatures.
d. Clothing that is dirty, torn, soiled or ragged.
e. Clothing that is too tight, too short, excessively baggy, or which allows underwear, lingerie or midriffs to be seen.
f. Hats, caps, or any materials that cover the head except religious hats or materials, such as yamakas, turbans, or chunis.
g. Lingerie or pajamas.
h. Sunglasses
II. Rules of Conduct
The following rules apply to all parties entering the courtroom:
a. You are subject to search.
b. Weapons – Absolutely no weapons of any type shall be brought into the courtroom except by commissioned peace officers or those intended to be offered as evidence.
c. No smoking of any kind or use of tobacco products in the courtroom.
d. No food or drinks are allowed in the courtroom.
e. All cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set in vibrate mode.
0. No person shall bring radios, tape recorders, computers, cameras, or other electronic devices into the courtroom without prior judicial/bailiff approval.
f. Do not interrupt or talk at the same time as the Judge, counsels, witnesses, or other court personnel.
g. Do not engage in conversation with other parties during the court hearing unless it is with your legal counsel or directed by the Judge.
a. Do not make any gestures, facial expressions, shaking or nodding of the head or by any other conduct to express approval or disapprove of any testimony, statement or transaction in the courtroom.
j. No person shall bring packages, suitcases, boxes, duffel bags, shopping bags or containers into the courtroom without prior approval of the bailiff.
k. No person shall recline or prop feet on tables or chairs in the courtroom.
l. Do not approach the Judge’s bench or court clerk without permission.
***ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES CAN RESULT IN REPRIMAND BY THE JUDGE, EXPULSION FROM THE COURTROOM OR BEING HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.
