Our website and Facebook page will post dates for upcoming municipal elections. Each election has a filing period, during which potential candidates may pick up packets with campaign filing forms and guidelines at City Hall.

Qualifications:
Mayor:
- Registered voter of Texas
- Reside within the municipal limits for a least twelve (12) months preceding the Election Day.
- Shall not, after notice of any delinquency, be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liabilities due to the City of Tom Bean.
- No employees of the City shall continue in such position after filing for an elective office.
- Shall not concurrently hold an elective office with the city other than the one being filed for.
City Council:
- Registered voter of Texas.
- Reside in the municipality on Election Day.

- No employees of the City shall continue in such position after filing for an elective office.
- Shall not concurrently hold an elective office with the city other than the one being filed for.
Nepotism
No person related within the second degree of affinity or within the third degree of consanguinity to the mayor, any member of the city council, or the city secretary, shall be appointed to any office, position, or other services of the city, but this prohibition shall not apply to officers or employees who have been employed by the city continuously for more than two (2) years prior to the election of such member of the council, mayor, or city secretary. In addition, the mayor shall not approve the appointment to any supervisor’s work group, any person who is related within the second degree by affinity or consanguinity to the supervisor.
